Y’all, what an incredible time I had teaching at the Texas Basket Weavers Association Conference in Austin from January 23-26, 2025! If there’s one thing I can say about this event, it’s that everything truly is bigger in Texas—especially the creativity, the enthusiasm, and the friendships formed over baskets and bundles of reed.
I had the absolute pleasure of teaching four fun and unique classes:
🧺 Elbow Basket – A quirky and functional design that kept my students on their toes (or elbows?).
🌟 Seven Sisters – A dynamic basket full of intricate detail and artistry.
👣 Step in Style – Because who doesn’t love a beautifully woven Double Wall basket?
❌ X Marks the Spot – A fantastic pattern that challenged and inspired weavers.
From the very first class to the last finishing touch on a basket, my students amazed me with their talent, patience, and willingness to dive into each project with enthusiasm. Watching them bring these designs to life was an absolute joy. The best part? Seeing those “aha!” moments when a tricky technique suddenly clicked—pure magic!
A Big Ol’ Texas-Sized Thank You
Events like these don’t happen without a whole lot of heart and hard work, so a HUGE thank you goes out to the organizers of the Texas Basket Weavers Association. From coordinating schedules to making sure everything ran smoothly, y’all did an amazing job!
To my wonderful students—thank you for bringing your creativity, laughter, and determination to my classes. You made every moment in the classroom an absolute delight, and I’m so proud of the beautiful baskets you created.
To my fellow teachers and vendors—what a pleasure it was to be surrounded by such talent and passion! Whether we were sharing techniques, swapping stories, or sneaking peeks at all the gorgeous supplies and kits in the vending area, you made the event even more special.

Leaving Austin wasn’t easy, but I know this won’t be my last trip to Texas for basket weaving fun. The friendships, the inspiration, and the incredible community of weavers make this event truly special. And I traveled to Rockport to visit with my sister after the convention.
