If you had told me I’d be dodging cold, sleet, and winter weather in Texas, I might have raised an eyebrow
But guess what? Once the weaving started, none of that mattered—because we stayed toasty warm weaving away all the days!
I had the absolute pleasure of teaching at the Texas Basket Weavers event in Dallas, and it was one of those events that fills your cup (and your basket heart) right to the brim.
A Huge Thank You
First things first—thank you to the incredible committee and volunteers who made this event run so smoothly. From behind-the-scenes planning to keeping everything moving like a well-woven base, your hard work truly showed. Events like this don’t happen by magic, and I’m so grateful for the care and dedication you poured into every detail.
The Students = Pure Joy
To everyone who took one of my classes—thank you for showing up ready to learn, laugh, and weave. Watching baskets (and confidence!) grow throughout the day is one of my favorite parts of teaching.
Each class had its own personality, challenges, and “aha!” moments—and y’all leaned right into the process. There’s nothing better than a room full of focused weavers, hands busy, stories flowing, and that collective “Look what I made!” energy.
Vending, Visiting & Basket Love
A big thank you as well to everyone who stopped by the vending area—whether you picked up a kit, a basket, or just came over to say hello. Those conversations, hugs, and shared basket stories are what make these gatherings so special.
Cold Outside, Cozy Inside
Even with the cold and sleet outside, inside it was all warmth—warm hands, warm hearts, and a whole lot of creative joy. Reed was soaked, ideas were flowing, and the weaving community did what it does best: came together.
Texas Basket Weavers, thank you for welcoming me, inspiring me, and reminding me (once again) why I love this community so much. Until next time—keep weaving, keep creating, and stay cozy
