Greetings from Lorelea at Offerings of Wonder! I’m gearing up for an inspiring drive to the stunning Shenandoah Valley, a trip that promises not just breathtaking views but also a deep dive into the heart of basket weaving with some of the most talented weavers in the country.

Shenandoah Creates – A Celebration of Willow Baskets with Jo Campbell-Amsler

My first stop is the much-anticipated Shenandoah Creates event. Here, I’ll have the unique opportunity to learn from the renowned Jo Campbell-Amsler, a master of willow basketry. Jo’s workshops are a treasure trove of techniques and insights, and I can’t wait to share what I learn with all of you. Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced weaver, there’s always something new to discover in the world of willow.

Touring the Valley and Visiting Fellow Weavers

No trip to Shenandoah would be complete without exploring the local scenery and visiting fellow basket weavers. I plan to meet with local artisans, each with their own unique styles and stories. These visits are not just about learning new techniques but also about building a community that supports and inspires each other. I look forward to bringing back stories and maybe a few new ideas for our Hoot Basket Gift Club!

Teaching at the Tidewater Guild

Next, I’ll be heading to the Tidewater Guild to teach a series of basket weaving courses. Teaching is a passion of mine, and each class is an opportunity to connect with others who share this beautiful craft. Expect to dive deep into the techniques that make basket weaving such a rewarding art form.

A Week of Weaving with Paper with Annetta Kraayeveld

To cap off my journey, I’ll return to Shenandoah Creates for a week dedicated to paper weaving with Annetta Kraayeveld. Paper weaving offers a different texture and challenge from traditional materials, and learning from Annetta is an opportunity I couldn’t miss. I’m eager to bring back innovative ideas and techniques that could inspire our next subscription box.

Join Me on This Journey

I invite you to follow along as I embark on this adventure. I’ll be sharing updates, photos, and insights on our social media and in our newsletter. Whether you’re a fellow weaver or a curious observer, there’s bound to be something to catch your eye and maybe even tempt you to try your hand at weaving.

Until then, weave on and wonder always!

Lorelea
