What an incredible time I had at the Kentucky Basket Association Convention in Somerset, KY!

From start to finish, the event was filled with creativity, learning, and connecting with amazing basket weavers from across the state and beyond. I want to take a moment to reflect on this unforgettable experience and extend a heartfelt thank you to everyone who made it so special.

Grateful for the Kentucky Basket Association Board

First, a huge shout-out and sincere thank you to the Kentucky Basket Association Board members for all of their hard work in creating such a well-organized and welcoming convention. The atmosphere was so warm and inviting, and I know it was because of the dedication and effort the Board put into planning this event. Everything—from the classes to the marketplace—was handled with care and attention to detail, making it an enjoyable experience for both the teachers and students. I truly felt the love for basket weaving throughout the convention, and I’m so grateful to have been part of it.

A Thank You to My Wonderful Students

I had the privilege of teaching some really fun and engaging classes, and I want to send out a huge thank you to everyone who took a class with me. Whether you joined me for the Fall Sunset Basket, explored patterns with the Fun with Twills Basket, learned the intricacies of the Seven Sisters Basket, or added a little sparkle with the Enchanting Sparkle Jar, it was an absolute joy to share these projects with you.

Your enthusiasm and eagerness to learn made each class a memorable experience. There’s nothing quite like the energy of a classroom filled with eager weavers, and I was so inspired by each of you. Thank you for trusting me as your instructor and for bringing your own creativity into each piece you made.

To Everyone Who Stopped By: Thank You!

Beyond teaching, it was wonderful to connect with so many people in the shop and around the convention. Whether you purchased a basket kit, supplies or simply stopped by to say hello, I want to thank each and every one of you. Your support means the world to me, and it was so much fun to chat with fellow weavers, hear your stories, and share in the joy of basketry together. It’s moments like these that make teaching and vending so rewarding!

Looking Back on the Projects We Wove

As I reflect on the classes I taught, I’m reminded of how each project brought something unique to the table. The Fall Sunset Basket was such a fun seasonal project, with its vibrant colors capturing the beauty of autumn. The Fun with Twills Basket allowed us to explore playful weaving patterns, creating baskets that were both functional and artistic. The Seven Sisters Basket challenged us with its intricate design, but seeing everyone’s sense of accomplishment when it was completed was the best reward. And who could forget the Enchanting Sparkle Jar—such a delightful project that added a little magic to our baskets with a touch of shine.

Wrapping Up an Amazing Convention

All in all, the Kentucky Basket Association Convention was a fantastic experience, and I am so grateful to have been part of it. To the Board, thank you for creating such a positive and inspiring environment for us all. To my students, thank you for your creativity and willingness to learn. And to everyone who stopped by my booth, thank you for your kindness and support.

I look forward to seeing you all again soon, and until then, happy weaving!

Happy Weaving,
Lorelea
