We are looking for your ideas!

Greetings, fellow basket weavers! As someone who has been weaving baskets for years, I can say that it’s one of the most satisfying and fulfilling hobbies that I’ve ever pursued. I love everything about it – from the smell of the materials to shaping the final product. That’s why I decided to start this blog: to share my passion for basket weaving and to connect with others who share the same interest. But before we dive into various tutorials, tips, and tricks, I wanted to hear from you, my fellow weavers, about what you’d like to see in our future blog posts. Every weaver has a voice, and every opinion matters. So, let’s connect and learn!

First of all, I’d like to extend a warm welcome to all the newbie basket weavers out there! If you’re just starting out, you’ve come to the right place. I remember vividly how daunting it was to start weaving my first basket, and any advice or guidance from experienced weavers would have been invaluable. That’s why I think it would be great to have some posts dedicated to beginners. For example, we could start with an introduction to materials and tools, how to prep them, and basic weaving techniques. We could also discuss the most common beginner mistakes and how to avoid them. What do you think?

On the other hand, if you’ve been weaving baskets for a while, you may be looking for more complex techniques to take your craft to the next level. That’s where our blog can come in handy too. We could explore topics such as advanced weaving patterns, different materials to experiment with (e.g., natural vs. synthetic), and creative ways to add embellishments to your baskets. I’m always looking for ways to expand my skills and knowledge, and I’m sure many of you are too!

Speaking of materials, let’s talk about sourcing them. I know that finding quality materials can be challenging, especially if you’re not living in an area where they’re readily available. That’s why it would be great to explore online vendors who specialize in weaving supplies. We could review some of the most popular ones and share our experiences with their products. Additionally, if any of you have favorite sources of materials that you’d like to share, we’d love to hear from you!

Another topic that I think would be beneficial to discuss is how to care for your baskets. Once you’ve put in all that time and effort into weaving a beautiful basket, you want it to last as long as possible. We could talk about the best ways to store your baskets, how to clean them (if necessary), and methods for repairing them in case any damage occurs. I’m always looking for tips on how to take care of my baskets, so I’m eager to hear what you all have to say!

Conclusion:

In conclusion, I want to emphasize how important your input is to our community of basket weavers. This blog is for you, and I want to make sure that it’s addressing your needs and interests. From topics that are helpful for beginners to advanced techniques, to sourcing material from trusted sources, and even taking care of your baskets – I want to hear about it all. So, please take a moment to leave a comment and let us know what you’d like to see in our future blog posts. I’m excited to share this journey with all of you and see our community grow and thrive!

  1. I would love to find out where to get quality reed! It’s been hit and miss for me since I started back basket weaving since just before Christmas. I did a lot of weaving 25 years ago and never seemed to have any issues with reed. Now I’m struggling to get good reed online – there are no nearby places here in Rochester MN. So that kind of information would be helpful ☺️
